With a ring system which will allow to automatize certain actions(auto dodge, letting the AI control Torgal movements) but also others that will simplify the gameplay, will easily allow newcomers and less practiced players to all enjoy more or less the same experience. Each elemental attack will have a cooldown, but being able to swiftly move to the next one will allow for a good variety and dynamic elemental and powerful combos. In fact Clive will be able to harness the powers of Eikons, initially just a small portion of Phoenix to later being able to use other elements Eikons as well. With fights involving Eikon, reminiscence of Dragon’s Dogma biggest enemies on top the choreographic action combat you’d expect from the DMC franchise, but with the tactical system still in place. His influence is really noticeable in all the gameplay trailers and early previews. With a full move from the tactical rpg system, to a more dynamic action rpg system thanks to the combat director Ryota Suzuki, the same person who directed DMC5 and Dragon’s Dogma. In his path he’ll reunite with old friends, like his fully grown puppy Torgal who’ll serve as a pet/companion, and new improbable allies like the ruthless Benedikta Harman which share in common with Clive the mission to hunt down Ifrit, on top of new enemies toward the possible path of getting rid of Magick and Eikons alltogether, due to the human greed for power that has torn the land. Here, the protagonist, Clive Rosfield having failed to fully awaken the Phoenix’s powers as it’s dominant, in favor of his younger brother, is protagonist of a tragedy, tragedy that will set on a dangerous path of revenge against the fire dark Eikon, Ifrit. With each Ekons controlling a certain elements, each of the kingdoms are both seeking to defeat and capture the other’s remaining, as Eikons are the key to hold possess to those precious crystals. Key to control them are the summons/primals now renamed as Eikons, huge and powerful monsters and deities which will take a major role in this new chapter of the franchise. Set in the land of Valisthea, a land once blessed with abundancy of aether through Mothercrystals, the now dwindling magick resource is the cause of a massive and constant war between 6 kingdoms, seeking control of the last remaining Mothercrystals. After several remakes, spinoffs and dlcs Square Enix is finally going to make Final Fantasy XVI real.
